The McNeese slugger finds himself at the top of several batting categories following an offensive outburst over the weekend

After a break-out season at McNeese State where he led the Cowboys in virtually every batting category, Seth Granger has brought that same offensive power to East Texas for the summer.

Granger continued his domination at the plate this past week, batting .444 in the five games heading into the all-star break, earning him his first Texas Collegiate League Player of the Week award.

He went 8-for-18 at the plate with three doubles, six RBI and six runs scored. He posted all three doubles in a July 15 contest against the Coppell Copperheads and crushed his first home run of the season, and only the second of the year at Driller Park, the next night against the Copperheads.

His offensive explosion bested his average to .328, good enough for second in the TCL. Granger has been one of the Pump Jacks top run producers all season long and sits at second in the TCL in RBI (27) and leads in runs scored (32). The junior outfielder has compiled a .373 slugging percentage in 33 games for the Jacks, which leads the team and is second in the league.

His summer wouldn’t come as a surprise to any McNeese State baseball fans. Granger finished his junior campaign leading the Cowboys with a .372 batting average. He led the team in hits (84) and RBI with 55, finishing one above former Pump Jack and San Diego prospect Lee Orr.

Granger is the second Pump Jack slugger to pick up a Player of the Week nod with Hunter Dozier taking the title in week five. Jaden Dillon picked up Pitcher of the Week honors consecutively in weeks three and four. James Guillen scooped up the honor in week two to round out the Jacks haul of league awards this season.

The Pump Jacks find themselves at the top of the overall standings with a 27-12 record. After clinching the division title in the first half, East Texas has continued to roll in the second half, sitting in first with an 8-2 record.

The Jacks get back to action tonight following the all-star break, welcoming the Brazos Valley Bombers to historic Driller Park for the first time this season for a two-game set. The Pump Jacks wrap up the week traveling to Alexandria on Friday and Saturday for a two-game series against the Aces.

Wednesday is Winning Inning Wednesday sponsored by Jack in the Box. If the Pump Jacks score three or more runs in any inning, every fan in attendance will receive a coupon for a free value menu item from Jack in the Box.

The two-game series will wrap up with Thirsty Thursday. Fans can beat the East Texas heat with $1 draft beers, $3 frozen margaritas and 50-cent soft drinks all night long.
